This year, global motor manufacturer WEG UK has celebrated its 25th anniversary and its most successful year since its inception. Inaugurated in 1997, WEG UK has established itself as a strong branch of the global manufacturer of electrical and mechanical equipment, which was founded in Brazil in 1961. At the end of 2022, the UK branch is celebrating a record year of sales in the motors, drives and wider industrial equipment market.
WEG UK was created to support the sales and distribution of motors, drives, gearboxes and other equipment to the industrial sectors in the UK and Ireland. As one of the world’s largest manufacturers of industrial motors, WEG’s UK branch has been involved in a large number of notable projects, as well as working with some of the country’s most innovative original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).
A member of the British Pump Manufacturers Association (BMPA), the Manufacturing Technologies Association (MTA), the Association of Electrical and Mechanical Trades (AEMT) and the Association of Manufacturers and suppliers of Power Systems (AMPS), WEG is an established name in UK industry.
The UK branch specialises in the supply of motors, drives, gearboxes, alternators and digitalisation tools, many of which have been demonstrated at industry events in recent years. In the last year alone, WEG UK has launched new industrial technologies to the UK market, including the CFW900 drive and its Motion Fleet Management (MFM) platform. WEG MFM was shortlisted for Product of the Year in the 2022 Pump Industry Awards hosted by the BPMA in 2022, an award category that WEG has sponsored in previous years.
WEG UK has also been the recipient of several other awards and accolades since its inception. Notably, WEG was awarded the Lean Six Sigma award by the British Quality Foundation (BQF) at the 2016 UK Excellence Awards Ceremony. This award is a testament to the work businesses do to improve performance and achieve sustainability — an area where WEG places significant importance.
