This robot range is compatible with Shibaura Machine’s TSVision3D, a 3D vision system designed for picking applications with unusual shaped items. TSVision3D incorporates two integrated high speed captures that collect real-time 3D images. The software registers the item without the need for complex CAD data, allowing a robot to pick non-uniform items without faults.

Myth busting: 2D vision for robotics

In some cases though, a 2D vision system is more suitable. In a recent webinar, TM Robotics and SICK debunked some of the most common myths related to 2D vision guided robotics. Broadcasted from Shibaura Machine’s North American headquarters near Chicago, the webinar included demonstrations of 2D vision guided robots, including examples of the Shibaura Machine THE600 SCARA and TVL700 6-axis robot.

The TVL700 is one of Shibaura Machine’s flagship six-axis models. Developed for assembly and handling applications, the TVL boasts an aluminium extrusion cross-section, reducing the weight of the robot without compromising on strength. This model can integrate seamlessly with other manufacturing technologies, including the SICK vision system, as demonstrated in the webinar.
