Sundolitt Ltd, the UK division of Sunde AS, are pleased to announce the opening of a new 11,000 m2 purpose-built manufacturing site in Corby, Northamptonshire early in 2023, to produce EPS construction products.

As Europe’s leading Expanded (EPS) and Extruded (XPS) Polystyrene manufacturer, this new development is the Sunde Group’s largest single investment in the UK, adding significant production capacity to key sectors within the construction, housebuilding and civil engineering markets.

The move is as a result of a strategic decision to develop the company’s vision to be the leading expanded polystyrene manufacturer within the construction industry. The location is central being accessible to support the Midlands, London and the wider south-east area, in additional to their more traditional markets.

We will absorb the production from our Gateshead factory to the new site which will be one of the most advanced production facilities in the EPS construction industry. The significant investment emphasises the Sunde Group’s confidence in the UK market and focuses on the quality of the new cutting-edge production facilities to develop our UK proposal.

EPS is a lightweight insulant with applications in thermal insulation for construction, and structural blocks for civil engineering. Colin Morrow, UK General Manager, adds “EPS and XPS are both robust insulation materials that repel water whilst maintaining their strength and thermal performance characteristics”.

A family-owned business for more than 100 years, Sunde AS are one of the leading European players in the production and conversion of EPS and XPS based products. Employing nearly 500 staff across 21 sites, The Group provides each with technical support and R&D resources.
